"All I know is that I don't know, all I know is that I don't know nothing." Operation Ivy is regarded as one of the most important bands of the third wave of ska. Despite their extremely short career, they have certainly made their name known in the music industry. Operation Ivy created a strong foundation for the ska punk sound that would be used by and built upon by numerous bands in the 90s. After the band broke up, guitarist Tim Armstrong and bassist Matt Freeman went on to form Rancid. Operation Ivy's only album Energy was released on vinyl as a 19 song album and rerelased on CD with the Hectic EP and other tracks as a bonus.1) Knowledge2) Sound System3) Jaded4) Take Warning5) The Crowd6) Bombshell7) Unity8) Vulnerability9) Bankshot10) One of these Days11) Gonna Find You12) Bad Town13) Smiling14) Caution15) Freeze Up16) Artificial Life17) Room Without a Window18) Big City19) Missionary20) Junkie's Runnin' Dry21) Here We Go Again22) Hoboken23) Yellin in my Ear24) Sleep Long25) Healthy Body26) Officer27) I Got NoMyspaceDownload
Stoner metal at its finest. This classic album is slow, groovy, bluesy, and everything else that stoner metal should be.1) Dragonaut2) The Druid3) Evil Gypsy/Solomon's Theme4) Some Grass5) Aquarian6) Holy Mountain7) Inside the Sun8) From Beyond9) Nain's BaptismMyspaceDownload
It should be known that there is no such thing as a bad Neurosis side project. Steve Von Till's work under the name Harvestman is strong evidence. In a Dark Tongue, Harvestman's sophomore effort, features a cross between Neurosis' brand of sludge and northwestern US folk metal.1) World Ash2) Karlsteine3) Birch-Wood Bower4) By Wind and Sun5) Music of the Dark Torrent6) Eibhli Ghail Chiuin Ni Chearbhail7) Headless Staves of Poets8) The Hawk of Achill9) Carved in Aspen10) Light Cycle11) In a Dark Tongue12) Centre of the WorldMyspaceDownload
Fishbone is an essential band for anyone interested in ska. This all-black Californian band fuses third-wave ska with a brand of funky punk similar to Faith No More and early Red Hot Chili Peppers. Fishbone's self-titled EP, also their first recorded material ever, contains the ska classic "Party At Ground Zero," which is one of the band's most popular tracks. Another album recommended is Fishbone's 1988 album Truth and Soul, which features a calmer, yet still incredibly fun, version of the band.1) Ugly2) Another Generation3) ? Fuckin' Slayer! Finally an album by my favorite band. Decade of Aggression is probably my favorite live album. The first disc contains a basic Slayer setlist which would include some of their most famous songs such as "Angel of Death," "South of Heaven," and "Raining Blood." The second disc focuses more on album tracks but is the more intense of the two with songs like "Black Magic," "Spirit in Black," and "Postmortem." Although this album gives you a good idea of what a Slayer show would be like, you would actually have to go to one of their concerts to truly experience the chaos.Disc 1:1) Hell Awaits2) The Anti-Christ3) War Ensemble4) South of Heaven5) Raining Blood6) Altar of Sacrifice7) Jesus Saves8) Dead Skin Mask9) Seasons in the Abyss10) Mandatory Suicide11) Angel of DeathDisc 2:1) Hallowed Point2) Blood Red3) Die By The Sword4) Black Magic5) Captor of Sin6) Born of Fire7) Postmortem8) Spirit in Black9) Expendable Youth10) Chemical WarfareMyspaceDownload (Mediafire)Download (Megaupload)
Yep, another album I normally wouldn't post here. However, Bleeding Through is one of the few metalcore bands I still enjoy. Maybe the reason I still like them is because I saw them opening for Slayer, and in my opinion they did a great job. Honestly, I'm actually excited to hear their new album Declaration which will be released on September 30th. 1) For Love and Failing2) Confession3) Love in Slow Motion4) The Painkiller5) Kill to Believe6) Dearly Demented7) Line in the Sand8) She's Gone9) Tragedy of Empty Streets10) Return to Sender11) Hollywood Prison12) The Truth (Instrumental)MyspaceDownload (Mediafire)Download (Megaupload)
Bonded By Blood is one of the many bands leading the modern thrash metal movement. If you couldn't already guess, the name of their band is a tribute to the famous debut album of their heroes Exodus. Since I love this band so much, here's their first EP AND their debut album.
