"I told you not to play keyboards for him."

I've been busy with work so I haven't posted anything in a while. Anyway, I'll put an up album or two soon. In the meantime, enjoy this video. Any person who was a fan of Cryptopsy's albums before The Unspoken King will understand.

Nuclear Assault - Game Over (1986)

This is the third and final album of my American metal weekend...god, I just realized how cheesy this idea was. Whatever:

Nuclear Assault's Game Over is one of my favorite thrash albums. Danny Lilker, who plays bass on this album (as well as in many other bands), is also one of my favorite bassists. If you grew up anywhere in the Northeastern United States, mainly New York or New Jersey, then you should hear a familiar tune halfway through the album.

1) Live, Suffer, Die
2) Sin
3) Cold Steel
4) Betrayal
5) Radiation Sickness
6) Hang the Pope
7) After the Holocaust
8) Mr. Softee Theme
9) Stranded in Hell
10) Nuclear War
11) My America
12) Vengeance
13) Brain Death

Vital Remains - Dechristianize (2003)

This is the second album of my American metal weekend:

Vital Remains is a side-project of Deicide's Glen Benton. However, for a side-project this is actually better than Deicide! Dechristianize can be described with three words: epic, melodic, brutal. And that goes for every song on the album.

1) Let the Killing Begin
2) Dechristianize
3) Infidel
4) Devoured Elysium
5) Savior to None...Failure for All...
6) Unleased Hell
7) Rush of Deliverance
8) At War With God
9) Entwined By Vengeance

New Blog

I recently started a blog with a few other guys as an extension of a Facebook group that I belong to. On this new site, we will be posting a list of albums that are released each week as well as a few of those albums with short reviews.

The new blog is called "I'm A Metalhead and Proud of It!!! Global Style" and can be found here. If you want to join the group on Facebook, it is located here.

Necros Christos - Triune Impurity Rites (2007)

Only about half the tracks on Triune Impurity Rites are actually songs. These songs have a heavy doom-ish blackened death sound to them. The rest of the tracks are short interludes that are used to create a dark atmosphere and add a melodic touch to the album. These interludes range from acoustic passages, spoken word, and ambient tracks.

1) Nekros Kristos (Temple IX.99)
2) Daemonomantic Fog Lay Upon The Tombs Of Succoth
3) Kischuf (Temple VIII)
4) Christ Was Not Of Goatborn Blood
5) Nam Ignis Est Umbra Locorum Infernorum (Temple VII)
6) Tormented Flesh On The Mount Of Crucifixion
7) Gate I: Das schwarze Wasser der Toten
8) Ora Pro Nobis (Temple VI)
9) Last Rite Of Christ
10) In Love With Ereskigal (Temple V)

Grave - Into The Grave (1991)

Grave's debut is an essential album for anyone interested in any form of death metal. The album starts off extremely heavy and, although it slows down a bit sometimes, the songs remain on the same level of intensity.

1) Deformed
2) In Love
3) For Your God
4) Obscure Infinity
5) Hating Life
6) Into the Grave
7) Extremely Rotten Flesh
8) Haunted
9) Day of Mourning
10) Inhuman
11) Banished To Live

Evoken - Antithesis of Light (2005)

Antithesis of Light is possibly one of the best doom metal albums ever. With no songs under 10 minutes (except the intro track), this crushing album is one of the darkest I have listened to.

1) Intro
2) In Solitary Ruin
3) Accursed Premonition
4) The Mournful Refusal
5) Pavor Nocturnus
6) Antithesis of Light
7) The Last of Vitality

Purgatory - Psychotic Dreams (1985)

Before Jon Schaffer decided to change the name of his legendary metal band, Iced Earth was known as Purgatory. The songs on this demo sound similar to songs on the band's self-titled debut album as Iced Earth.

1) Jack
2) In Jason's Mind

Katatonia - Brave Murder Day (1996)

Like other gothic metal bands from Sweden, such as Tiamat and Therion, Katatonia was once a death metal band. On Brave Murder Day, you can hear Katatonia's transition from doom/death to a more gothic sound. This album also features Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth on vocals.

1) Brave
2) Murder
3) Day
4) Rainroom
5) 12
6) Endtime
